According to calsavers.com, Executive Director, Katie Selenski, nearly half of working Californians are on a trajectory of retiring into economic hardship,
if they retire at all. She says an estimated 7.5 million residents work for employers with no retirement saving program.
However, a
new state law (a game changer) which takes effect on 1 July 2019, requires all businesses to sign-up for a state sponsored
program that allows all employees to participate is is a retirement saving program.
Program mandates that all business operating in the state of California
participate in this program which allows all employee the option of participation and must opt-out if they do not wish to
participate.
Starting 1 July 2019, all California business
must register as follows:
* Businesses with 100 employees
must be registered by June 30, 2020.
* Businesses with 50 or more employees must be
registered by June 30, 2021.
* Businesses with 5 or more employees must be registered
by June 30, 2022
Employees who do not want to participate in this program must opt-out.
I personally
applaud the state of California for implementing such a program and strongly encourage all employees to maximize their monthly
contributions to the maximum extent possible.
This program
is mandatory for all California Businesses with 5 employees or MORE and all employees of those businesses must Opt-Out if
